Self Improvement Tip of the Week – Help others to help yourself…
You’ve heard the old adage of “treat others as you would like to be treated”. That’s an excellent bit of wisdom to live by.
However, you may not have heard (or at least most likely don’t completely believe) the bit of wisdom that:
“The best way to get what you want in life is to help others get what they want”
What? How does helping others get what they want help me get what I want?
If you just asked that question in your head… I can guarantee that you aren’t living the life you want to live.
Most people have the mindset of ME ME ME and “I will do what’s right for me”. That’s all fine and good… if you truly don’t want what’s right for you.
The way that you can achieve whatever you want to achieve is by helping others achieve what they want to achieve.
Think about it…
What do real estate investors do? Well… the honest and successful ones anyway.
They help people get what they want. For real estate investing it is usually that they truly help the sellers out of their situation. True investors aren’t out chasing ambulances, preying on grieving widows, and trying to squeeze every last penny out of the seller. That might last for a little while, but it’ll catch up with those types of investors after a while. With these types of people, their first goal is to make money. They say, I’m going to make $X this month… however I do it… I’m going to do it.
On the other hand, if you want to truly be successful and get what you want… do the following.
Go out this month with your primary goal as to truly help sellers out of their bad situation. You go into each deal with the attitude of helping the seller… rather than the attitute of running out with as much profits as possible.
I know, it takes a bit of getting used to at first. I mean… how does helping others first help me in the end?
Well simple…
When you help others get what they want, you have happy clients and you feel great about your business. Happy clients help create more business for you and you feel even greater about your business. Sooner or later you are known for your results and truly helping people in their difficult times. You aren’t seen as a predator out to strip the equity out from under this seller.
I can guarantee you that going about life and business with this mindset will lead to true success.
In fact, I started this website… not because of my desire to make a million bucks… but to help other investors avoid the same mistakes I have made in real estate, business, and life. We provide quality unbiased content because my first objective is to help you get what you want.
As of now, this website isn’t producing much of an income. Pays for some groceries… that’s about it. However, I know that because of what we are doing over here at The REI Brain that in the end the money will come and we will get what we want…
… to help investors such as yourself succeed as a full-time business where our company is sustainable and we provide the best quality and results producing education and resources for you to be successful in real estate, life, and business.
That’s what we want. By giving you quality information for free and some excellent information at affordable investment rates… your success will drive our success.
So, if you aren’t thinking in this way yet… you really need to do so.
Action Step:
For the next 30 days, concentrate on helping other people get what they want. Whatever it is, do it. After a while, I can guarantee you that you’ll get what you want.
Simple… yet extremely powerful.
Good luck and I wish you the greatest of success (because if you succeed I succeed!)
