HousingMaps.com - A Cool Way to Find Properties On Craigslist…
Every now and then I come across a site that I haven’t seen that I really like a ton. I’d say probably 7 out of 10 new real estate related sites I see (especially property listing and property value sites)… are kinda crappy and ones that I won’t visit again.
But… I found a cool (and really simple) site that makes it easier for you to find properties via Craigslist.

The thing I really like about this site is how simple it is. I’m not going to take too much time to explain Housing Maps… you’ll figure it out in about 5 seconds once you hit the site.
But, here is my take on Housingmaps.com.
- Integrates Google Maps with Craigslist and grabs all of the real estate listings on Craigslist… puts them on a map… and makes them easy to search.
- You simply choose one of the 40 or so cities that you want to find listings in (only takes the top 40 or so markets in the U.S…. thats a big drawback)
- Choose the price range to search in…
… and voila! It brings up a nifty map with the properties listed in Craigslist.
What HousingMaps.com Isn’t
HousingMaps.com is a really cool tool for what it’s worth. But… it is a very simple tool and doesn’t give you very detailed information at all.
Another drawback of the site is that it only shows about 40 or so cities around the U.S. (and I think London is included too… why… not sure). If you live or are looking to buy in one of the cities included… this is a really cool tool to find great properties… sometimes at great prices.
So, check out HousingMaps.com and see if it’s a tool worth bookmarking for your property finding resources. For me, I look every once in a while for properties on Craigslist (can find some motivated sellers there… but also a ton of realtors list their properties in there… so not always great deals).

I used a site called http://www.rentrent.org for my apartment hunting in NY. The site is pretty simple.
They allowed me to search by numebr of bathrooms. Craigslist and housingmaps.com doesn’t have this feature. Also rentrent.org has little colored thingie that tells me the numer of beds by color.
