When I was in college I was pretty darn hot and heavy into learning everything I could learn about real estate investing.

I think I’m a lot like you… and I spent hours online trying to find the BEST real estate investing advice out there. What I found was a bunch of crappy outdated information where the website owner had nothing in mind but trying to push a bunch of crappy products on you… but I also found some really great real estate investing sites, forums, and communities that can be great resources.

DISCLAIMER – I actually hesitated before making this page because so many people will see all of these great resources and spend all of their time reading and learning… WHICH IS NOT GOOD! I did this for over 2 years before I FINALLY realized that I needed to get out there and make something happen… all of the education in the world won’t make you money. You’ve got to learn the BASICS, and put those into action before you go on to learn more.

Anyhow, here’s the real estate investing directory according to The REI Brain. All sites included are ones that I’ve personally used and feel to be great resources (to a point). Also, I tell you my take from personal experience on the value of the site’s content and advice .

Real Estate "Guru" Based Websites We Trust

By "guru" based websites I mean… those sites that have content… but are solely built to pitch and sell a guru’s information products. Nothing wrong with this at all… if the guru is honest and doing the right things.

The sites included in this list are "gurus" that I trust and know produce very good, high value, content and are out to do the right thing. Many guru’s say they’re out to do the right thing… but their actions clearly show they aren’t.

• Brad Wozny – One of the best people out there for truly solid REI business building information and training. Great stuff and great guy.
• Steve Cook – Another excellent guy. He is someone that you can really hang out with and talk life as well as REI. Very trustworthy and is out to do the right thing everyday.
• Preston Ely – With Preston you either love him or hate him. Not because he’s a sleeze… but because he is very outgoing and tells it how it is. I like Preston because he’s as real as real can get… no veil of secrecy with him as there is with so many "gurus". This is a guy that you owe it to yourself to get his Wholesaling Ebook… the best $49 purchase in real estate education you’ll ever make… I promise.
• Mike Collins – Excellent guy… and is leading the charge at trying to clean up the REI education world. Mike is about "pitch free seminars", great content, and helping investors. I spent a lot of time with Mike in Florida and would fully recommend him to anyone for great REI education.

Hey, if you know of a site that fits the criteria below, let me know about them so I can include them on this page:

1. Very high quality, actionable, and up to date content
2. Truly has the reader/customer in mind w/ EVERYTHING they do (this is a big one for me… I can pick out whether they’re full of crap or not)
3. The person behind the site is an honest person who you could seriously sit down and have a beer with (or a nice glass of iced tea if you don’t drink beer
4. Is unique and not a part of the bandwagon… not just "another one of the crowd"
5. Provides a unique point of view on things… and/or provides a unique service that is the best in the industry at what they do

Those are my semi-selfish criteria for making it past my crap-o-meter. Yep, some great resources will probably not make my grade… but I’d rather have only the BEST, most honest, most actionable, and most value laden resources on this page… nothing less.
