When someone switches jobs, it’s customary to get a letter of reference from the employer you’re leaving. This serves as proof that you worked at that job and offers the new employer some insight into what kind of employee you are.
The same is true of getting a letter of recommendation from a previous landlord. If you’re taking on a new client, having some reassurance from another landlord that they pay their rent on time and they take care of the property most likely will put your mind at ease until you get to know them better.
This Good Tenant Recommendation Letter is very simple and should be customized with your own letterhead, name of tenant, and whether they paid their rent on time. Feel free to add any other glowing information you would find useful. You can make this a standard part of your moving out procedure or just keep the template on file until someone asks for it.
As always, our attorneys make us say it… these forms are for reference only and you should always pass any forms you use for your business by a competent attorney in your local area to make sure they jive with all state, federal, and local law.
