Tried and True Marketing for Your REI Business – Bumper Stickers

While it’s easy to think of such things as business cards or flyers as “old hat” or outdated, that’s simply not the case. Another such tried and true marketing strategy is bumper stickers.

Bumper stickers are ideal advertising tools. They can be used anywhere, at any time. They don’t have to go on a vehicle. They can be placed in bathroom stalls, on posts, trees, atop other advertising on corrugated signs, etc. Boarded up windows, closed businesses, and other places that offer a “blank slate” make a great place to post your bumper sticker.

Use bumper stickers in place of flyers. Tack them on bulletin boards and hand them out around town. They make great handouts since it’s a tangible, free item that will help keep your name in front of your prospects. Ask friends and family members to stick one on their vehicles or hand them out in their businesses.

For an REI professional, a good message might include a play on words, a simple statement, or just an eye-catching phrase. Humor is always a good option, especially for bumper stickers where folks just seem to expect it.

For instance, one realtor’s sign read, “Hey, You!” followed by, “If that made you look, wait until you see our properties” with the broker’s name and phone number. That would easily fit on a bumper sticker. Another sign seen recently included the common phrase “Price Reduced” with “But not stupid or desperate” in smaller letters underneath. Then there’s “Is Your Neighbor an Idiot? Then sell me your house!” All of these would be great on a bumper sticker.

Just because a real estate investment business is part of a traditional, long-established industry doesn’t mean your advertising and marketing must be dull, or run-of-the-mill.
